How to disclose AI-generated ads

Last updated: July 10, 2026

Most major platforms now require you to label realistic AI-generated or “altered/synthetic” content, especially in paid ads. It takes one toggle at upload. Disclosing correctly keeps your ad compliant with each platform’s policies and builds trust with the people watching it.

A quick note on accuracy:platforms update these settings regularly. If a menu has moved or the wording is different by the time you read this, check the platform’s current help docs. The steps below reflect general, common-sense guidance rather than a guaranteed exact UI.

Meta (Facebook & Instagram)

When you create a post or ad in Meta’s tools, look for the AI-disclosure control, often labeled “AI info”, and switch it on before you publish. If you’re running the video as a paid ad, also check Ads Manager for a separate AI-content disclosure question during ad setup. Meta asks this specifically for regulated categories (like politics or social issues) and increasingly for general ads too.

Meta also runs its own detection on photorealistic AI content and may auto-apply an “AI info” label even if you don’t add one yourself. Disclosing up front means you control the framing instead of leaving it to automatic detection.

TikTok

Before you tap post, open the content disclosure settings (usually under “More options” in the upload flow) and turn on the “AI-generated content”toggle. This tells TikTok — and viewers — that the video was made with AI, which is required for realistic synthetic media under TikTok’s community guidelines.

Like Meta, TikTok can automatically detect and label AI content it identifies, so it’s best practice to disclose it yourself rather than rely on automatic tagging.

YouTube (Shorts & video)

When you upload your Short or video, YouTube’s details step asks whether your content contains altered or synthetic material that could be mistaken for a real person, place, or event. Answer Yes, and YouTube will attach a disclosure label automatically — no extra design work needed on your end.

Quick reference

  • Meta (Facebook / Instagram): toggle AI info / AI-content disclosure when creating the post or ad; check Ads Manager for paid ads too.
  • TikTok:toggle “AI-generated content” in post settings before publishing.
  • YouTube:answer the altered/synthetic-content question “Yes” in the upload details step.

AdClanker ads are AI-generated by design — labeling them is quick and honest, and it takes seconds once you know where to look. Ready to post? See our posting guide for the full upload flow on TikTok, Meta, and YouTube, or get started and make your first ad.
